Thelma J. Hess

Funeral services for Thelma J. Hess, 60, of McGregor, formerly of Coon Rapids, took place Dec. 26 at Grace Lutheran Church. Rev. James Allison officiated.

Hess died Dec. 22 at the Aicota Nursing Home in Aitkin. She was born June 7, 1938 in Woodstock to Raymond and Marie Molone Jaqua. She was a member of the TOPS Club in Coon Rapids.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Hess of McGregor; daughters, Dawn and husband Bruce Landmann of Stanchfield, Michelle and husband Tom Beckensten of Coon Rapids; grandson, Anthony Beckensten of Coon Rapids; sisters, Betty Johnson of Sandstone, Darlene Bowen of Alexandria; brother, Glen and wife Ruth Jaqua of Hawarden, Iowa; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Marie Jaqua; a sister; and three brothers.

Pallbearers were Brian, David, Gordon, Roger and Keith Johnson, and Larry Jaqua.

Interment was at Pine Needle Cemetery. Arrangements were by McGregor Funeral Home.

Margaret Officer

Funeral services for Margaret Officer, 77, formerly of Cedar, took place Dec. 30 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Rev. Hilton Hammer officiated.

Officer died Dec. 25 at North Ridge Care Center in New Hope. She was born Sept. 1, 1921 in Northwood, N.D., to Amund and Oleana Kordahl. She was a beautician.

She is survived by her sons, William of St. Louis Park, Robert and wife Deborah of Delano, Thomas and wife Laurie of Crystal; daughter, Anita and husband Mark Groethe of Palo Alto, Calif.; brothers, Adolph Kordahl and wife Anna of Northwood, N.D., Axel Kordahl and wife Catherine of Mora; grandchildren, Sarah, Jessica Karl, Craig, Clayton, Tracy; and great-grandson, John Robert.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; parents, Amund and Oleana; and brother, Joseph.

Interment was at Our Saviour's Cemetery. Arrangements were by Strike Funeral Home-Isanti Chapel.

Hedvig E. Schaeffer

Funeral services for Hedvig E. Schaeffer, 94, of Anoka, took place Jan. 4 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. James Servidio officiated.

Schaeffer died Dec. 31 at Anoka Good Samaritan Center. Schaeffer was born Jan. 10, 1904 to Swan and Carolina Olson Thoreen.

Schaeffer is survived by sons, Don and wife Colleen Erickson, Carl and wife Carole Erickson, all of Burnsville; daughters, Carol McNamee of Plymouth, Fern Olson of Minneapolis; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery, Anoka. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Arleta Jo Foust

Funeral services for Arleta Jo Foust, 66, of Anoka, took place Jan. 5 at Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka. Rev. Abe Cardosa officiated.

Foust died Jan. 1 at her residence. She was born Sept. 25, 1932 in Dawson, Neb., to Joseph L. Lanning and Clara E. Lefler. She was a retired inspector at Federal Cartridge.

She is survived by her husband, Vernon; stepson, Patrick; sisters, Ruth LaHaise and husband Al, Rea Fisher and husband Jim; brother, Lloyd Lanning; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Interment was in Mora. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home.

Joseph D. Sharpe

Funeral services for Joseph D. Sharpe, 66, of Anoka, took place Dec. 31 at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Anoka. Rev. Bill Deziel officiated.

Sharpe died Dec. 28 at VenCare Hospital in Golden Valley. He was born March 23, 1932 in Memphis, Tenn., to Joseph D. and Yolanda Turri Sharpe. He was a salesman for Art Goebel Ford and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1950 to 1954.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; sons, Joe and wife Dawn Sharpe of Oak Grove, Paul and wife Terri Sharpe of Coon Rapids, Patrick Sharpe of Anoka; daughters, Sandra Torkelson of Ramsey, Cathy Sharpe of Fridley; grandchildren, Robert, Cassandra, Jacob, Wade, Corina, Ryan, Vincent; brothers, John and wife Jerry Sharpe of Indiana, Jim and wife Lori Sharpe of Kentucky, Mike and wife Vickie Sharpe of Michigan, Vincent and wife Mary Ann Sharpe of Illinois; sisters, Anne Golas of Michigan, Yolanda "Babe" and husband Donald "Mo"DeFino of Pennsylvania, Sue and husband Dan OíMalley of Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Yolanda Sharpe; brother-in-law, Joe Golas; and nephew, Joe Golas, Jr.

Pallbearers were Art Goebel, John Bendix, and John, Jim, Mike and Vincent Sharpe.

Hazel Osterheim

Funeral services for Hazel Osterheim, 79, of Anoka, formerly of Superior, Wis., took place Dec. 30 at United Methodist Church in Anoka. Rev, Kenneth A. Rice officiated.

Osterheim died Dec. 28 at the Twin Rivers Care Center. She was born July 4, 1919 in Andover to John and Carie Belle Pike Augustson. She was a central supply clerk at Mercy Hospital and a 4-H county agent. She was a member of TOPS and the Sons of Norway.

She is survived by her daughter, Gail Gustafson of Silver Bay; sons, Joseph of Blaine, William of Springtown, Texas; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew.

Pallbearers were Merle, Dennis, John, and Mike Augustson, Ray Hyovalti, and Scott Klingelhofer.

Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

DeLoris L. Milless

Funeral services for DeLoris L. Milless, 75, of Anoka, took place Dec. 31 at Zion Lutheran Church, Anoka. Rev. Norman R. Berg officiated.

Milless died Dec. 28 at Mercy Hospital. She was born Aug. 31, 1923 in Anoka to Edward W. and Minnie B. Schulte Redman. She was a clerical worker.

She is survived by her husband, Edwin; son, Larry; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Elmer Redman; and sisters, Theresa Hagel and Rachel Maag.

Pallbearers were Gary, Gordon, Roland, and Tom Maag, and Shane and Shannon Milless.

Interment was at Forest Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were by Thurston-Lindberg Funeral Home, Anoka.

Martti J. Ylenius

Funeral services for Martti J. Ylenius, 71, of Tampere, Finland, took place Dec. 29.

Ylenius died Dec. 25 in Coon Rapids while visiting friends in the United States. He was born June 23, 1927 in Pihlajavesi, Finland, to Eemil Ylenius and Helmi Monto. He was a steam fitter.

He is survived by wife, Salme; nine children; and other relatives in Finland.

Interment was in Finland. Arrangements were by Gearhart Anoka Funeral Chapel.

Mabel M. Lorenz

Funeral services for Mabel M. Lorenz, 87, of Coon Rapids, took place Dec. 31 at Gearhart Anoka Funeral Chapel. Rev. Jim Martin officiated.

Lorenz died Dec. 28 in Coon Rapids. She was born Dec. 28, 1911 in Baraboo, Wis., to Albert and Anna Goethke.

She is survived by son, James Heideman; daughters, Dorothy Gauvitte and husband Darrell, Joyce Groinus, Sally Knoll and husband Joe, Alice Stephens and husband Bryon; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Estella Norby and Viola Tumbarelli; and brother, Russell Porter.

She was preceded in death by her son, Richard; daughter, Marianne Goldenstein; and husbands, Herman Heideman and Theodore ìTedî Lorenz.

Pallbearers were Christopher and Timothy Gauvitte, and Scott and Jason Heideman.

Interment was at Sunset Memorial Park. Arrangements were by Gearhart Anoka Funeral Chapel.

Patricia L. Ingalls

Funeral services for Patricia L. Ingalls, 68, of Oak Grove, took place Jan. 4 at St. Patrickís Catholic Church. Rev. Michael Kennedy officiated.

Ingalls died Dec. 29 in Oak Grove. She was born April 30, 1930 in Delano to Michael and Mary Czech. She was a registered nurse.

She is survived by her sons, Patrick and wife Linda, Michael and wife Patricia; daughter, Anna and husband Steven Tholen; grandchildren, Timothy, Laura, Michael, Christopher, Melissa, Christina and Steven Jr.; great-grandchildren, Brent and Jordan; and brother, Ambrose Czech.

Pallbearers were Patrick, Michael A., Timothy, and Michael P. Ingalls, and Steven and Steven Jr. Tholen.

Interment was at St. Patrickís Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements were by Gearhart Anoka Funeral Chapel.

George Duehr

Funeral services for George Duehr, 72, of Blaine, took place Jan. 4 at Christ Lutheran Church, Blaine. Rev. David Spong officiated.

Duehr died Dec. 31 in St. Paul. He was born Aug. 19, 1926 in Hayward, Wis., to George Duehr and Amy Marie Schmidt. He was service technician.

He is survived by his wife, Blanche; daughters, Sherry Holmquist, Barb Walter and husband Ken; son, Russ of St. Paul; grandchildren, Chris Holmquist and wife Denise, Amy Holmquist, Josh and Randi Walter, Andy and Beth Duehr; and great-grandchildren, Melanie and Brandon Holmquist.

Ty Philip Hoverstad

Funeral services for Ty Philip Hoverstad, 8, of Coon Rapids, took place Jan. 5 at Faith Lutheran Church, Coon Rapids. Rev. Valerie Brown officiated.

Hoverstad died Dec. 31 in Minneapolis. He was born Sept. 1, 1990 in Coon Rapids to Tad Hoverstad and Paula Severson. He was a student.

He is survived by his parents, Tad and Paula Hoverstad; sister, Tara; grandparents, Suzi Barlow and husband Walt, Arne Hoverstad, Edwin and Donna Severson; great-grandparents, Melba and Philip Coursolle, Cora Mattison, and Pauline Severson; aunts and uncles, Tanya and Randy Anderson, Tim Hoverstad, Kris and Brad Nelson, Lisa and Reed Johnson, Ed and Amy Severson; great aunt and uncle, Annette Webb and Tom Coursolle; cousins, Daniel and Abbi Coursolle, Kyle Nelson, Travis, Risa and Ami Johnson, Taylor, Samantha and Mickenzie Severson; and many other relatives and friends.

Robert E. O'Connor

Funeral services for Robert Earl O'Connor, 73, of Henning, formerly of Ramsey, took place Jan. 7 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Osseo-Brooklyn Park. Rev. Robert Patterson officiated.

O'Connor died Jan. 2 at the Lake Region Hospital in Fergus Falls. He was born Jan. 20, 1925 in Minneapolis to Earl O'Connor and Esther Simonson. He married Dorothy M. Narveson and was the founder of REO Plastics, Inc. in Osseo. O'Connor was a World War II veteran in the Marine Corps and a member of DAV.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Jill SanMiguel and husband Gary of Dallas, Texas, Jackie Williams and husband Don of Maple Grove, Robin Hughes and husband Kevin of Brooklyn Park, Timothy O'Connor and wife Kelly of Brooklyn Park, Thomas O'Connor and wife Lisa of Litchfield, Kelly Kipp and husband Greg of Champlin; grandchildren, Shawn and Ryan SanMiguel, Chris, John and Ben Williams, Nicole, Brian, Shari and Melissa O'Connor, Kila and Cody O'Connor, Austin, Corey and Emmy Kipp; five great-grandchildren; brother, Jerome O'Connor and wife Betty of California; sister, Joyce Reznicel and husband Harry of St. Francis; and brother-in-law, Melvin Moss of Dayton.
